Propylene oxide, abbreviated as PO, with a molecular formula of C3H6O, is a colorless, transparent, low-boiling flammable liquid at normal temperature and pressure, with an odor similar to that of ether.

Main Applications

The most popular application of propylene oxide is the synthesis of polyether polyol, used in the manufacture of polyurethane; it can also be used in the manufacture of nonionic surfactants and acryl alcohol, propylene glycol, alcohol ether, propylene carbonate, polypropanol amine, propanal, glycerol, organic acids and so on, used in coatings, dyes, automobiles, jet engines, printing, electronic chemicals, mineral processing, leather processing, oil fields, pesticides and other industries; it is also used as solvents, curing agents and stabilizers for organic synthesis, as well as used in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and spices.
