It is mainly used for producing the intermediate hexanediamine for polyamide fiber. It is used as a rubber accelerator and rust inhibitor, aspinning solvent of the terpolymers of acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, and methyl methacrylate, a wet and dry spinning solvent for polyvinyl chloride fiber, a colorant for polyamide, an additive for fabric bleachingagent, a plasticizer for acetic ester, propionic ester, butyric  ester, and mixed ester, and an extraction agent for aromatics extraction.
